Signing in
How do I create an account?
Open Vantage and enter an email address and a password of at least 10 characters. On the web you can also use Continue with Google. On iPhone, sign in with email and password.
I forgot my password
On the sign-in screen, type your email and tap Forgot password?. We will email you a link to choose a new one. If it does not arrive within a few minutes, check your spam folder.
Are my saved spots on all my devices?
Yes. While you are signed in, saved spots, shot checklists, notes, day plans and settings sync to your account. Anything you saved on a device before signing in is merged in the first time you do.
Location and home base
Vantage ranks spots by drive time from your home base. Set it in Settings → Home & location, either by typing an address or with Use my current location. If location is blocked, allow it for Vantage in your device’s Settings (on iPhone: Settings → Vantage → Location) or in your browser, or just type an address. Vantage only reads your location when you tap a button that needs it.
Conditions alerts
Turn them on in Settings → More → Conditions alerts. Vantage checks tonight’s forecast once a day for the spots you have marked “want to go” and notifies you when the light looks good.
- If Vantage says notifications are blocked, allow notifications for Vantage in your device or browser settings, then try again.
- On iPhone or iPad in Safari, web notifications only work after you add Vantage to your Home Screen. The iOS app does not need this.
- To stop alerts, tap Turn off in the same place.
Your photos
- Add a shot from any spot page, under Your shots. Before your first upload you will be asked to agree to the community guidelines.
- Each spot allows a few shots per person. The allowance grows as you earn craft points.
- Shots you add are visible to everyone using Vantage, with your initials. Delete them any time from the You tab.
- Small photos are uploaded as they are, including any location data embedded in the file. Remove it first if you would rather not share it.
Reporting and blocking
Every shot that is not yours has a flag button. Two independent reports hide a shot straight away, and a curator reviews every report. You can also block a photographer so their shots disappear for you everywhere; undo it in Settings → Community & safety. To report anything else, email us.
Wrong or missing information
Hours, fees and access rules are spot-checked but can change. If something is out of date, send feedback from the app. Know a place we are missing? Use Suggest it at the bottom of Explore.
Deleting your account
In the app, go to Settings → Account → Delete account, type DELETE and confirm. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone. It removes:
- every photo you uploaded, including ones other photographers rated highly;
- your saved spots, notes and day plans;
- your client shortlists and their responses;
- your points, hunt progress, votes and blocks;
- alerts on all your devices;
- your login.
If you can’t sign in, email support@shootvantage.com from the address you signed up with and we will delete the account for you. The Privacy Policy lists exactly what is removed.
Which version am I on?
The version and build number are at the bottom of Settings. Please include them if you report a bug by email.
